The Twin Boroughs Recycling Center is open to residents of East Stroudsburg Borough and Stroudsburg Borough only. Commercial dumping of any kind is prohibited.

The Twin Boroughs Recycling Center is located off Lincoln Avenue just south of Interstate 80. From Brown Street, take Lincoln Ave. past Wal*Mart underneath I-80 and make a right into the Recycling Center driveway.

The hours of operation are as follows:

Monday Through Friday from 8:00A.M. to 3:00P.M. and
Saturdays from 8:00A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

  Residential and Commercial Trash Collection

Trash collection services within the Borough of Stroudsburg are provided by private collection companies who enter into individual contracts with homeowners and business owners.  Click here to see a complete list of registered haulers . Recycling services are separate  (they cannot be offered by trash collection companies operating within the Borough). Recycling is collected curbside every other week, as detailed below.

Electronics Recycling

The Monroe County Waste Authority (MCWA) accepts electronics recycling at their facility at  183 Commercial Blvd., Blakeslee, PA 18610 ; phone: 570-643-6100. Here is a list of  items accepted for electronics recycling . More information is on the MCWA web site: thewasteauthority.com .


Residential Recycling Collection

DO:

Place recyclables at curbside by 5:00 a.m. the day of your collection
Rinse food from bottles, jars, and aluminum cans
Use pails for glass and aluminum cans
Remove plastic caps from containers and include them with recycling
Crush plastic bottles to save space
Keep your recycling pails in a convenient location
Use any container for your recyclables. 

DON’T:
Include light bulbs, ceramic glass, mirrors, items made of clay or laminated glass with recycling
Break glass before placing in pails

Items for curbside collection are listed below.  These items can also be taken to the recycling center at 336 Lincoln Avenue (behind Walmart) during their normal business hours.  Other items accepted only at the recycling center are: tin/steel cans, Styrofoam peanuts, computer devices, televisions, and used motor oil.

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED:   Plastic bags, plastic pails, clothes hangers, motor oil bottles, Styrofoam egg containers, ice cream or paper milk containers, dog/cat food bags with plastic liners.

ITEMS FOR CURBSIDE COLLECTION

NEWSPAPERS, MAGAZINES, PAPER/PAPERBOARD AND CARDBOARD:
Place newspapers in brown paper bags, cardboard box, bundle with twine/string (do not tape together or use plastic bags)

Combine magazines and junk mail (glossy postcards and advertisements) in box, paper bag, or bundle with twine/string

Combine regular paper, paperboard (paperboard is glossy boxes i.e. cereal, cracker, frozen food boxes, NO container that contained liquid) and paper egg cartons  ( not  Styrofoam) in box or brown bag

Breakdown and bundle corrugated cardboard separately with twine/string (corrugated cardboard is heavier with “lasagna noodle” looking middle)

GLASS JARS & BOTTLES:
Sort bottles by color (brown, clear and green).  Rinse all containers, labels may be left on. No windowpane, blue bottles, ceramics or light bulbs.

ALUMINUM:
Cans and aluminum  foil — Rinse and flatten aluminum cans.

PLASTIC BOTTLES & TUBS ONLY:
Number 1-7 plastic bottles and tubs* (soda bottles, milk & water jugs, detergent bottles, butter tubs and yogurt containers)

Rinse all containers, remove but include the caps and crush to save space.

* Plastics need to be free of contamination in order to be recycled properly. Please clean plastics so we can continue to take them!

DISPOSAL OF ELECTRONICS
Please be advised that disposal of electronics curbside for weekly trash pickup is  prohibited . These materials should be disposed of at the Twin Borough Recycling Center located on Lincoln Avenue. Electronics include televisions, computers and accessories.
