Spring Curbside Brush Pickup

The Stroudsburg Borough Street Department will pick up brush curbside on April 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, and 26, 2024 .  Materials collected are limited to tree branches and prunings, twigs, small bushes (without root ball), hedges and tree logs not exceeding 5-inches in diameter. Limbs must be cut to a 4-foot length and tied in bundles not exceeding 50 pounds. Other materials should be placed in containers for easy pick up. Place materials curbside prior to 8 a.m.

Note that this program does NOT include pick up of grass clippings, leaves, flowers, vines, roots, or garden and vegetable plants. These items should be composted.

Fall Leaf Collection

The Borough of Stroudsburg will provide curbside leaf collection from Monday, October 16, 2023 to Friday, December 1, 2023.

Residents are asked to rake leaves to the edge/curbside of their properties before 7:00 a.m. of
your collection day. In order to avoid interference with storm drains and the storm water
systems, residents are asked to refrain from blocking sidewalks and piling leaves over the curb or
in the roadways or gutters. Residents should also ensure that piles left for collection contain only
leaves, with no other debris mixed in, as this is a safety concern for public works collection
crews, and causes problems with the leaf collection machinery and disposal operations.

A detailed schedule, including days of the week when streets and neighborhoods will be
services, is posted below.

Throughout the year, these items may be dropped off at the Recycling Center on Fridays from 8 a.m. until noon at the facility on Lincoln Avenue in East Stroudsburg (behind Walmart).

Note that this program does  NOT  include pick up of grass clippings, leaves, flowers, vines, roots or garden and vegetable plants.  These items should be composted.

Listen carefully to Snow Emergency declarations

A Snow Emergency is declared in the Borough anytime there is an accumulation of three-inches or more of snow  or  when, in the opinion of an authorized Borough official, street conditions are hazardous and dangerous. Snow Emergency Routes are signed throughout the Borough. Vehicles parked on snow emergency routes during a declared snow emergency are subject to ticketing and/or towing.

The Public Works Director provides notification of the declaration of a snow emergency to the Police,  Pocono Record , WNEP, WBRE, WSBG and TV13. Many of these media outlets have automatic alerts listeners can sign up to receive through the various Web sites.

Motorists should carefully note the declared start and end times for a snow emergency; the ending time is normally at least 24 hours after the estimated end of the weather event. This enables public works crews to complete all snow removal and ice control operations.

Ever wonder what the colored lines mean on the streets, grass and sidewalks? Using the PA One Call system, markings are made by the various utilities whenever anyone proposes to dig underground for any type of work. Each utility has its own dedicated color. Here is a Utility Color Chart Guide:

Christmas Tree Pickup

The Borough performs curbside pickup of Christmas trees. Public Works crews go through the entire Borough to collect the trees twice a week for the month of January. Residents should place trees out on the curb early in the morning during this time period.  Trees must have all decorations, including tinsel and garland, lights, and stands removed in order to pick up. The trees will be taken to the Recycling Center and chipped up into mulch.  Stroudsburg Borough residents may also bring their tree to the Twin Boro’s Recycling Center during their normal business hours.  Please be advised that our garbage hauler is  NOT  responsible for picking up Christmas trees, branches, or other yard waste under its contract.

Curbside Christmas Tree Pick Up will take place every Monday and Friday during January 2024.
